Keeping ourselves busy

So in my continued efforts to keep my kids from too many screens and fill their time with more meaningful things, here are a few of the things we have been doing with our hot summer days.

More science kits!  I ordered quite a few kits to do this summer and we have started almost all of them. Here is the Volcano from the volcano and earthquake kit.  The lava is plaster so each time it erupts it adds another layer onto the hill.

Henry also picked up a few more balloons to practice making balloon animals.

Here is Molly and Henry's dream vacation made out of legos. They want to go to the beach. I promised Molly we would go for her Birthday so only a few more days and we will head to the coast for some time in the waves!
Early morning bike rides or walks have become part of the usual schedule. It is cool until about 10:00 so we head out early.
We biked out of our little town to some surrounding farms and saw green fields. It is nice to see something other than the golden dry grass fields for a change.

A little exercise, some sunshine and fresh air. Great way to spend the morning!

There has also been some swimming. We head to a public pool at least once or twice a week to swim. It is only 25 cents to get in, so it doesn't break the bank for us to spend a little time acting like fish. Sorry no pictures of the pool. I am usually too busy swimming and wet, so never have the camera handy.
